SRAE: Teen Outreach Program
The Teen Outreach Program (TOP) is an evidence-based, positive youth development program which promotes the healthy development of adolescents through weekly peer group meetings, curriculum, and community service learning. It is a nine-month program. The curriculum focuses on three core content areas that work together to build protective factors, reduce the impact of risk, and promote healthy development: skill building, developing a positive sense of self, and strengthening connections to others.
Licensing
TOP is a licensed program that requires training of facilitators by certified trainers. ACT for Youth is a certified replication partner with Wyman Center and has two certified trainers that provide training and technical assistance in collaboration with Wyman. For information, visit TOP: Teen Outreach Program.
Implementing TOP
Successful implementation of evidence-based programs requires significant planning. Use the template below to create your implementation plan, and the sample MOU to clarify agreements with implementation sites.
Implementation guidelines make clear the program developer's recommendations as well adaptations you may need to consider. Take these guidelines into account as you plan for implementation.
Adaptations
Since TOP is a licensed program, adherence to fidelity and quality of program implementation is closely monitored. All adaptation requests need to be discussed with ACT for Youth TOP trainers and approved by Wyman. Use the form below to begin this process, then submit the form to ACT for Youth.
Quality Assurance
The license agreement with Wyman stipulates that:
- Implementation data and pre-post survey data are directly entered into Wyman Connect, an online reporting system operated by Wyman
- TOP clubs will be observed by an ACT for Youth certified trainer once a year
