For PREP Health Educator Supervisors

PREP Health Educator Supervisors (HES) play a crucial role in leading their teams through the overall implementation process. They are responsible for orchestrating the simultaneous delivery of many programs at the same time, supervising their staff, and nurturing relationships with community stakeholders. This page provides a map to ACT for Youth supervisor resources to help facilitate this process effectively.

Getting Started

What is this project all about?

The PREP Initiative provides a summary of the current initiative, while the Request for Applications (RFA) fully describes the initiative as designed by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).

What are my responsibilities?

Part of the original PREP RFA, the HES job description clearly outlines the responsibilities and qualifications of Health Educator Supervisor so that all parties understand the expectations of those running the PREP project. PREP RFA attachments also include a standard work plan, offering another way to view Department of Health expectations.

Hiring and Orienting Educators

Training Educators

Supervisors need to be aware of which trainings are required and recommended, and when trainings are offered by ACT for Youth. All health educators as well as supervisors who facilitate lessons at implementation sites are required by NYSDOH to complete the online training "Implementing Evidence-Based Programs" before the programs begin. Request log-in for online course.

Supervising Educators

A good starting point for understanding the HES role is the online, self-paced Health Educator Supervisor Training. Request log-in for online course.

Evaluation: Documentation and Reporting

Documentation and reporting are key HES responsibilities. Supervisors are expected to review the data educators enter into Online Reporting System and are responsible for submitting timely biannual reports.

Evaluation: Continuous Quality Improvement
