Working with ACT for Youth
ACT (Assets Coming Together) for Youth is funded by the New York State Department of Health to provide technical assistance (TA), capacity building, training, and evaluation for PREP program providers. ACT for Youth provides similar support to several New York State initiatives.
Our Role
Technical Assistance and Capacity Building
Through a collaborative, relationship-based model, we provide TA and capacity building support to PREP providers by helping you identify and develop solutions to challenges — and uncovering strengths that can be reinforced and replicated. We intend this approach to create space for you to be reflective about the project and engage in continuous quality improvement.
Training
To build and maintain capacity for you to carry out the goals of the PREP grant, ACT offers in-person, hybrid, and virtual trainings as well as learning communities focused on specific topics.
Evaluation
Data collection and evaluation allow us to show the impact of all the work being done in communities. From collecting surveys and documenting attendance to tracking adaptations to your EBP, all the information is compiled and can be used to strengthen your PREP project. Evaluation findings are also useful for communicating success with other community stakeholders!
Your Role
As a PREP provider, your role as a health educator supervisor or a health educator (or both!) comes with many responsibilities. From managing your PREP Project to using your evaluation data, ACT for Youth has resources to support your success!
And just like any other strong relationship, communication is key! For us to provide the best support possible, it is important for you connect with ACT for Youth by:
- Attending trainings and web meetings offered
- Requesting support (through the ORS) on how to implement your programming
- Letting us know when there is a change in your staffing
Department of Health (DOH) Role
As the funder of the PREP initiative, DOH has assigned each grantee organization a Program Manager who is available to you. It's important to communicate regularly with your DOH Program Manager. Any questions regarding work plans, contracts, or finances should be brought to your DOH contact immediately.
